Möhringen reservoir

Not everyone is aware that there is a reservoir in the middle of the idyllic Krähenbach valley near Möhringen. In the 1920s after the First World War, the Krähenbach was to be used to supply water to the village of Möhringen. A reservoir was therefore created in the valley. This was intended to help regulate the water of the Krähenbach in order to feed a new hydroelectric power station in the village. The further course of the Krähenbach was also straightened for this purpose.

However, the project soon proved to be unprofitable and was abandoned. Incidentally, the waterworks was later converted into the Protestant church in Möhringen.

The reservoir was preserved. Today it serves as a biotope and fishing lake as well as an idyllic recreational area. However, the reservoir is not a bathing lake. Swimming is not permitted here.

The Möhringen reservoir is the heart of the Krähenbach valley (or "Bächetal").

Hiking trails or the Donaubikeland cycle route "Spitztour" can take you to the reservoir in Krähenbachtal. The city of Tuttlingen and the administration of the Möhringen district are currently upgrading the Krähenbachtal by creating recreational facilities and information signage as a recreational area for Möhringen, the city and the region.
