Am Siegesdenkmal, 79098 Freiburg
The Victory Monument was erected on the northern edge of the old town of Freiburg, in front of the then Karlskaserne, commemorating the German victory in the Franco-German War of 1871. After the Second World War, it was relocated about 100 meters to the west, due to new traffic routing.
The monument was dedicated to the XIV Corps and it was financed by a fundraising action in Baden. The inauguration took place on 3rd October 1876. Special guests on that day included, among others, Kaiser Wilhelm I, the Chancellor Otto von Bismarck and the Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden. Today, the Victory Monument is under historical protection.
