General information:

The University Church Freiburg in Breisgau was built as a church of the Jesuit College by the order brother Heinrich Mayer. The church, built from 1683 to the beginning of the 18th century was consecrated to the Marian Immaculate Conception. Sometime after the abolition of the Jesuit order (1773), the church with the associated buildings of the college in went in the possession of the university in 1793.

During air raid on 27 November 1944, the university church was destroyed, the vault collapsed, the large altar and the entire interior burned out. After previous safeguards, the church was rebuilt in 1956/57.
