If you want to find out more about the many interesting facets of the history of Immendingen and its districts, you should visit the local museum. However, it is currently only open by appointment and is best visited as a group on a guided tour.
The museum focuses on the paleontological collection of Pastor Josef Keller, the Höwenegg fossil collection, objects from the former Benedictine convent of Amtenhausen, sacred objects and products from the former foundry and machine factory.
The spectacular Höwenegg finds, from the prehistoric horse Hipparion to the sabre-toothed tiger and the prehistoric elephant, are around 10 million years old and (as replicas) are among the highlights of the collection. The completely preserved skeleton of the three-toed prehistoric horse Hipparion was discovered. The original is now on display at the State Museum of Natural History in Karlsruhe.
