Karlsbad is nestled in beautiful forests on the Alb-Pfinz plateau in the northern Black Forest. The five districts of Auerbach, Ittersbach, Langensteinbach, Mutschelbach and Spielberg are ideal starting points for cycling tours on the well-signposted cycle paths around the municipality. Hikes through the romantic Alb Valley or the Central/North Black Forest Nature Park are at least as varied.
With its exploratory tasks and research questions, this GeoTour turns the topic of "rocks and geology" into an exciting outdoor experience. All texts and pictures can be found in this guide or in the print brochure, there are no information boards in the area.
Please note: Walking on forest paths, roadsides, forest areas, former quarries etc. is at your own risk! Do not make any detours at small monuments such as millstones, boulders, walls, etc.!
From the starting point, follow the signpost towards Lohwäldle on the Untere Grabenäcker road slightly downhill for approx. 60 m until a gabion (stone wall in a wire cage) becomes visible on the left on the embankment to the track.
